Modeling Opportunities
The New Mexico Art League offers Life Drawing opportunities for adult models in a safe, respectful venue. It does not train models, but rather seeks women and men with some modeling experience. Sessions take place at the Art League studio, 3409 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. Models receive competitive compensation from the Art League plus all tips from artists. Art League volunteer

Wednesday Life Drawing meets 6 to 8:30 p.m. most Wednesday evenings. Models present their own repertoire of nude gestural poses ranging from 2 to 20 minutes. These are grouped in five 20-minute batches with 10-minute breaks between. Models should have confidence in what poses they can hold for given durations: 2-minute, 5-minute, 10-minute, and 20-minute. Art League volunteer Chuck Lockhart usually presides.
Sunday Life Drawing is a long-pose format that meets most Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. A single pose spans three Sundays and gives artists six working hours to fully develop drawings and paintings. Each Sunday, the model holds the pose for six 20-minute sittings with 10-minute breaks between. Long-pose sets alternate between nude and clothed. Art League volunteer Nancy Brodsky usually presides.
For models in clothed Sunday sets: Our artists participate to render a person. Does your outfit/costume complement not obscure figure and face? Will it allow quick resets after breaks and reproduciblity (including hair) on subsequent Sundays? Because we don't reimburse for clothes/styling, we encourage modesty. Consult first if you're considering something over the top. Most important, who do you want the artists to see? Do you want to project ease, glamour, sway? Do you have an outfit that embraces heritage? Or a plain-old something you just love? Inspire our artists with you.
Art League policy stresses respect for the model. Artists may take reference photographs only with the model's consent and only when a model is clothed.
Occasionally the League contracts models for workshops. These are arranged by the League in consultation with workshop instructors.
